Hi I'm Charlie, I am a farmer's daughter, originally from Yorkshire. Growing up on a farm meant that I had the opportunity to learn about the countryside and farming from an early age. I am told that my first job on the farm was helping my dad to steer the combine when I was two! By the time I was six I was promoted to counting the pigs as they were weighed to go to market (but I was too short to reach the blackboard so I had to stand on a bucket!)
I always knew I wanted work in the food and farming industry when I grew up. During summer holidays from school and college I helped in the fields pulling peas, tractor driving and picking potatoes.
Following the completion of my degree in Agriculture at Nottingham University, I moved to East Anglia and got a 'proper' job with a potato company, where I spent three years visiting growers and digging potatoes in my attempt to learn the art of growing the perfect potato.
I care passionately about the countryside and farming in Britain. That's why, when my boss at Produce World asked me to look into ways of promoting regional British produce, I jumped at the opportunity. We created From My Farm to promote the great produce our regions have to offer and to support our British farmers in their quest to look after our countryside and grow wonderful produce for future generations to enjoy.
Finally, can I just say thank you for visiting our website. If you want to find out more – ask us a question here. Some of our farms do not yet have wireless or broadband but we will do our best to send you an answer as quickly as possible!
